In the midst of climate change and coronavirus, you might find plenty of extra time that you can use to learn something new. Today, I’ll teach you about something that should be known throughout the world – greenwashing. This idea could be counted as a nemesis to planet Earth, or could be counted as one of the things that prevents people from actually making a difference when they think that they are. Greenwashing is effecting people everywhere, and you need to know about it.

Greenwashing is hard to miss in cleaning isle of the grocery store, on advertisements, and possibly in your own home. It’s when a company grabs the attention of an eco-conscious customer with green labeling and words like, “Organic.”

You’ve probably fallen for it too. In a video done by the CBC, they list some of the items that have probably grabbed your attention, on;y to reveal the hidden consequences with each product.

Another video done by the YouTube channel, Our Changing Climate, followed the effects of greenwashing by the company, Fiji Water. This video also goes on to tell more facts about the company, including the controversy of the name itself.
